Magic laboratory for children - and adults ! 
Children love the idea of magic spells and dramatic visual effects. Below are a few easy, fun ideas to try for your child’s magic party ....
In magic lab 2 you will see some mystery online illusions - get a calculator ready for some of these .... !
~ Erupting Volcano 
First prepare the “activation” mix - 1 cup of water, 3/4 cup vinegar, 1/2 cup washing-ip liquid, 10 drops of red food colouring and 10 drops of yellow food colouring.
Next line a box lid (edges approx 2” high) with foil, then fill with wet sand. Place an empty tin can in the centre and press the sand around it to form your volcanic mountain shape. For best effect completely conceal the can. Spoon 1/4 cup of baking soda into the can and place the box on a surface protected with a plastic tablecloth or newspapers.
To “erupt” the volcano, pour a portion of the activation mix into the can. The reaction when mixed with the baking soda this will look like “lava” erupting and flowing from the volcano ! You can then let the children’s party guests also add small amounts of the solution to cause further eruptions. 
~ Cyclone in a bottle
Start with two empty 2 litre plastic bottles, filling one with about a 1/3 of water - maybe adding some food colouring for more visual impact. Place the mouth’s of the bottles together (with the empty bottle on top !) then inbetween place a 3/8” metal washer. Next carefully seal the bottles together with duct tape ensuring the washer remains in-between.
To make the cyclone, reverse the bottles so the full one is on top. Swirl the top bottle in a circular motion until a spinning vortex begins to form in the water. Once the water has funnelled through to the other bottle , simply repeat action to create another cyclone.
~ Magic Milk
Pour some full fat/ whole milk into a small kitchen sourcepan and leave it to warm to room temperature. Next place a few drops of different coloured food colouring into the milk. Then place a few drops of washing-up liquid into the milk - watch what happens !
~ Magical Mystery Fog
Fill a large glass jar with hot water, leave to stand momentarily, then pour the water back out - leaving about 1” in the bottom. Place a fine strainer (e.g a flour sieve) over the mouth of the jar and put a few ice cubes in it. The cold air from the ice-cubes will cause the remaining water to condense from the warm moist air in the bottle - and an eerie fog will form.
